Music Monday - 허클베리핀

It's been awhile since I've posted up music :)
This is my all time favorite Korean rock band. Here I present you 허클베리핀 (Huckleberry Finn)

I know I posted up their other song before, but I can't help but keep revisiting them constantly.
Their lyrics tend to be more on the poetic side of angst complemented with the edgy guitar and drum works.  Come on, how can it not be addicting.
One of my greatest wishes is for rock to come back in Korea.  It was dead since the late 70's when the government went and interfered with censorship.  Now it only lives in the heart of indie world.
I grew up with old school Korean and American rock thanks to my dad, so the whole genre holds a special place in my heart.

Piece of Heaven

I feel as though I haven't posted a music post in awhile...
I'll just leave this here ^^
....................................
Over winter break, my friend introduced me to this MV on her phone as we were driving down from the mountains at night. The tranquility and the motion from the drive was absolutely in tune with the music.  It's something you just gotta try~
This has got to be one of the most beautiful music and video I have ever experienced.  I seriously can't stop watching this.  The visual, the acoustic, the message, is as close to perfection as it can be.

If the opportunity ever comes up, I have to watch Matt Hemerlein perform live!

Run River North

I made a post awhile back on how I came to discover the song Volcano by Damien Rice (here's the link)

Anyways, the singer that did the cover of Volcano during the Valentines day festival is now the lead singer in this band.  I found out around a months ago about this band, and I honestly can't stop listening to them. Each and every one of the members are extremely talented, and I have high respect for them as musicians :D

I'm hoping that I'll be able to watch them perform this summer with friends ^^

Motherly Nature, Fatherly Strength

The Civil Wars - My Father's Father

I just found these amazing duo, and wow just wow!  I've been going through a country phase lately, whether it be music or styling, for some odd reason. Ehhh~ I know I'm kinda cheating it cuz they're more of a folky country.
I don't know if it's because I'm living 20 min. away from the wine country or if my biochem professor is a cowboy, but it might just be because i'm getting pretty homesick and it just brings out the comfy homey aura that reminds me of  my childhood.
Even though I grew up in the big city of Los Angeles, my mom loves antiques and country/rustic inspired decors.  I remember waking up on weekends and watching pre-recorded episodes of Martha Stwert's Living on VHS with my mom :)  Back then, I was too young to fully appreciate what I was watching, and how my mom had took the time to record all those episodes during the week so she can share them with me.
It still amazes me how wonderful my mom was at raising us.

Hunting Down "Revenge" Soundtrack

The song was featured in the latest episode of the show Revenge "Penance"
I loved the sample they played in the ending montage that I went out to search for it. Turns out "abc" has a list of the soundtrack they use for each episode :D It's great cuz this show has such a great soundtrack!

Real Time Movie of L.A.

My all time favorite chick flick is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but" 500 Days of Summer" makes it into my list of must watch chick flicks.  One the great thing about the movie is that it was beautifully filmed in Downtown, L.A. (During the time I'm in school, whenever I get homesick I watch whole bunch of big blockbuster movies that show off L.A. I guess that's one the perks from being born and raised in L.A.)

After the movie was shot and released, certain places have definitely gone up in popularity such as the Angel Knoll's Park: Summer's favorite spot. You'll see people stopping by to take pictures and such, but it's no longer a great dating spot due to all the touristy attraction.  You wouldn't call it a great dating spot even before the movie cuz there's a lot of bums sleeping around the park in the shade, no joke. Anyways, I was going up to the California Plaza to watch a free Lunchtime concert hosted by Grand Performance and stopped by here.

Seriously! I love L.A. cuz there's always something to do for free. It definitely takes some research buts they're out there, just have to look for it.

Went and saw Thao with the Get Down Stay Down :)

FO-EEEVEAAAA

I've been a big fan of Jo Kwon's Ssan-ti dance and always respected him as an entertainer.  He's always an energizer bunny in talk shows ^^ After I found out he released his new solo with those Jeffery C. shoes, I have a new level of respect for him.
Seriously! He is breaking the gender boundaries with his new performance!
I am literally bowing down to his skills to dance in those shoes and the courage to do so as well.

Going through my Korean music phase again...
These are few of my current favs

It's funny I only found Korean Indie music a year ago. I was never really satisfied with the k-pop and thought rock was dead in Korea. But turns out I was looking in all the wrong places. After discovering like one indie artist, I found myself flooded with infinite amount of music and artists that I just love listening to. Serioulsy, I thought my culture was degrading down to sellouts and untalented pretty people until a year ago. I'm glad I found the genre of music from my culture that fits with me ^^
